Here we go, a quick tour of the ideal hikes to do with family or friends, not necessarily for sports enthusiasts.
*Perukain – Arbonne
(very easy walk, less than 2 hours)
HAS 10 km from Camping Oyam, the town of Arbonne offers a walking trail between meadows and vegetation. Take a tour of the village and enjoy a pleasant moment, perfect for young and old.
*The Sheepfolds – Saint-Pee-sur-Nivelle
(easy walk, about 3 hours)
Come and discover the valleys of Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle and Sare during this route. Walk in the heart of the city admiring the typical Labourdine houses of the region. Then reach higher, from the ridges, and enjoy a panoramic view of the Nivelle and the pastoral moors.
*The Rhune trail – Ascain
(medium level, about 4 hours)
How can we talk about hiking in the Basque Country without mentioning the most famous of all: La Rhune. With its summit at 905 m, you will enjoy an exceptional panorama of the French and Spanish Basque country. You can enjoy a snack at the summit to prepare yourself for the descent.
However, if you want to enjoy life without too much effort, consider the little train. This will take you to the top and allow you to enjoy the panorama without breaking a sweat.
*The Gorges of Holzarté – Larrau
(intermediate to advanced level)
To admire the Holzarté gorges you have two options:
You can only take the footbridge. This is suspended 150m above the gorges. It is a unique experience with guaranteed thrills in complete safety. This option is the shortest, it will take you less than 2 hours and the route is not too difficult in dry weather. Alternatively, you can undertake the full circuit during which you can also visit the gorges. This will take a little longer, a little less than 4 hours. HAS you choose!
Little tip: For all these hikes remember to wear good shoes. Your feet will thank you!
